Hello, Come and see an alternative side to Korean Culture! The Jinju Media Center is now open, playing independent films every Friday from Korea and around the world.
These are shown on DVD, so there is often the option for English subtitles. They frequently program animated films for young people, too. The Media Center also facilitates independent video production by giving workshops, renting equipment, and offering editing facilities. This is offered to all who become members, regardless of nationality. Rental fees are very reasonable. The Jinju Media Center is located across the main road from the Gyeongsang National University front gate. It is on the 3rd floor of the building behind the Family Mart. Buses 26, 17, and 27 will take you there. The screenings start at 7:30 PM. Next Friday, April 25, there will be a screening of 4 short films. One of them is a documentary I recently finished in Korea. It was screened at the Seoul Indie Documentary Film and Video Festival last month. The other films are by different directors. One film is a drama from the Netherlands, one is a documentary from America, and the other is a drama made in Korea. Tickets for the program are 4,000 Won. I will be at the screening to answer any questions and engage in a discussion about the films. To see some images from the films, follow this link to the Jinju Media Center cafe.daum.net/imjinju hope to see you there, Brian Virostek
